Kolkata: The Salt Lake ‘Banabitan’, also known as Salt Lake Central Park, may immediately get a facelift.
The country plans to turn it into an eco-tourism goal with all the latest facilities and facilities.
The Forestry Department has also decided to submit park management to Bengal Forest Development Corporation Ltd (WBFDCL).
That, until now, is managed by the Directorate of State forest through the forestry section of urban recreation.
A senior official said that one of the main tourist attractions, which was planned, was Lake Lotus.
“This will have boating and margling facilities,” officially added.
In addition, the new parking arena and inboxes and kiosks are also planned to be developed.
“To make it an interesting eco-tourism destination, the area will also accommodate Mini Baldapara and Mini Sunderbans, Legend Bengali Park, Selfie points and signs and interpretation boards,” officially added.
According to him, plans are also ongoing to develop garden and seafront coffee shops.
TVN RAO, Managing Director of WBFDCL, said that things are now in the proposal stage.
“We have made several proposals but they have not finished,” he added.
Through August 6, the Department of Forest said MD WBFDCL had, through other letters in July, made a proposal.
“In order to invest funds from his own pain, MD has requested the operation and maintenance of ‘banabitan’ to WBFDCL,” the letter dated August 6 mentioned.
“The proposal has been examined by the state and has decided to transfer its management to the WBFDCL with a direct effect,” the letter said.
However, it has been decided that expenditure on the cost of formation and other administrative costs will be borne by the forest directorate until March, 2022.
