SYDNEY: Former Sri Lanka captain and leader selector Sanath Jayasuriya was appointed head coach at a mythical club at Australia on Friday, linking two fellow countrymen in the side.
Mulgrave Cricket Club, that plays Victoria’s Eastern Cricket Association, stated the 110-Test veteran will be in control for its 2021/22 year old.
“We’re delighted to own Sanath in the team to mentor and work together with our players, offering an excellent wealth of expertise for our seniors and juniors,” it stated on Facebook.
Jayasuriya, 51, will join fellow Sri Lankans Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga, who’d signed on as gamers.
Mulgrave president Malin Pullenayegam stated Dilshan, who performed Jayasuriya at a Sri Lanka Legends’ aspect before this season, has been instrumental in helping secure his services.
“We have been using a talk to him for some time through clearly Dilshan as a touch,” he told the Melbourne Herald Sun newspaper.
“They grabbed up throughout the legends show and began with a few talks.
“Dilshan opened the doorway for us , and it turned out to be a great opportunity that has been introduced to me personally,” he further added.
“We simply had to operate on it come to an arrangement, and we’ve got.” Jayasuriya represented Sri Lanka 586 days throughout the three formats of this sport, hammering 42 centuries and shooting 440 wickets.
He performed his final international in 2011.
