PATNA: Totally 20 persons were detained till Tuesday morning for allegedly engaged heavy stone pelting to a combined raiding group of authorities and mines and geology division in a crackdown against illegal sand mining happening in the banks of river Sikri in village Paura beneath Kadirganj authorities station outpost at Nawada district on Monday night.
Four police personnel were hurt in the assault.
They’re havildar Mahesh Paswan and constables Rahul Kumar, Shailesh Kumar along with Shiv Kumar.
The havildar has acquired a head injury in heavy stone pelting.
Kadirganj authorities outpost in-charge Suraj Kumar on Tuesday reported both police vehicles and also a mines division car using they had attained place to run raids were severely damaged by the stone pelting.
“One Pappu Yadav is the kingpin of this mining racket operating around the banks of this Sikri river.
He’s currently a arrest.
Raids are about to nab him,” he explained.
Nawada Sadar SDPO Upendra Prasad stated that one truck packed with richly stained sand by the river had been captured in the spot while the other truck driver was able to flee in the place with his rich car.
“Altogether 41 persons such as Pappu and over 100 other unidentified villagers are left accused in the FIR lodged in relation to the episode of assaulting police group and participation from illegal sand mining,” Prasad said.
He stated that until today, 20 persons are detained in relation to the assault on law enforcement group and raids were moving on to nab another suspects.
Prasad stated that a large part of the detained persons are villagers who’d assaulted the police group.
“Whole village is included with illegal sand mining because it’s settled only beneath the river.
Many of the folks involved in running the mining was able to flee out of the place,” he explained.
He explained the problem has been brought under control following sending heavily armed forces at the place to support both the raiding team.
SDPO stated that additional investigation is happening in relation to the event.
