New Delhi: Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina are ready to represent India in a double tennis of women at the Tokyo Olympics who will come after the entries are officially announced on Thursday.
Sania will now be the first women’s athlete to represent India at four Olympics when she displays in Tokyo 2020, scheduled to take place from July 23 while Ankita Raina will make its debut at the exhibition.
Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs greets the Indian duo and tweeted, “I congratulately @mirzasania and @akrachamp, who will represent India in a women’s double tennis at # Tokyo2020 after the entries are officially announced.
This will be the 4th Olympics of Sania This will be a Raina debut.

“At present, Ankita Raina and Sania Mirza play in the ongoing Wimbledon and will compete with each other in the first round of mixed doubles on Friday.
Sania has paired with Rohan Bopanna while Ankita hand in hand with Ramkumar Ramanathan to compete in the first round of the tournament.
In the women’s doubles from the championship, Ankita has paired with American Tennis Star Lauren Davis while Sania has paired with Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
Previously on that day, Sania and his double partner Mattek-Sands sailed to the second round of Wimbledon with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over the couple Desirae Krawczyk and Alexa Guarachi in the first round of women’s doubles.
