NAGPUR: On Sunday, the third city Master (IM) Sankalp Gupta India scripted history by becoming the fastest and 71st chess Grandmaster (GM) in Serbia.
V Anand started it all in 1987.
The 18-year-old won the title of GM in only 24 days and in three consecutive tournaments.
No other GM of India has received a degree in a short time.
He is now second and 10 Maharashtra Nagpur GM.
To achieve the GM title the player needed to achieve the three norms and crossed the life rating of 2500 Elo points.

“It was difficult to maintain the same level of motivation and keep practicing though no tournaments going around.
But he was determined, and the hard work paid off.
We never know how close we are to achieve our dreams that we must never stop trying.
