Karachi: The former Spinner of Pakistani Saqlain Mushtaq has delivered to a PCB that he would not be able to take the work of the head coach with the national team based on full time because of his personal commitment.
According to a widely knowledgeable source on the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB), Saqlain, who has worked as a temporary head coach with the Pakistani team since September, has told the Head of PCB Ramiz King about his inability to take a full-time role.
“Saqlain told the chief that when he was happy to have contributed as head coach while he would not be able to accept long-term and permanent tasks as head coach because he had a previous business and personal commitment.” “Saqlain said that his business had been affected by his absence to the Pakistani team as a temporary head coach,” said the source.
Saqlain was appointed in a temporary role with the national team while working as a coach in a high-performance center in Lahore after Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis suddenly announced their resignation as head coach and bowling immediately after returning from the West Indies tour.
The source said that Saqlain told Ramiz that he would continue to work as a coach in a high-performance center because he wanted to stay based in Lahore but would be available for tourist tasks or draws.
Both Babar and Saqlain recommend having a foreign coach with the national team in the same meeting as Ramiz.
PCB has provided advertisements for five training positions including power hitting coach batting and head coach for high performance centers.
