Riyadh: Saudi man who was wrongly arrested in France on the murder of Jamal Khashoggi journalist felt like “at the zoo” during his detention, he told Saudi TV on Thursday.
Khalid al-Otaibi, looked tired and pale and wore a black sweater and a black hat, was arrested at Paris’s main airport on Tuesday before being released a day later.
“They took me to the rooms that were all glass and used for criminals and had supervision and did not have a good ventilation,” he told the State Al-Ekhbarian TV.
“I tried to sleep all night, but I can’t because the place was uncomfortable,” he added.

Otaibi was a victim of the wrong identity case when he shared his name with a desired man under an international arrest warrant in connection with the murder of Khashoggi.
Other Otaibi allegedly became part of the hit squad that committed murder at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul in 2018.
Khalid al-Otaibi was a common name in Saudi Arabia.
“I tried to avoid problems,” said the man released about his trials.
