Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday allows soaking Plaster Idol Ganesh Paris (POP) in Hussainsagar in the city as the last occasion while reminding the authority that it will not be permitted from next year.
The APEX court order came after the state government was looking for a review of HC’s prohibition on soaking idol pop on the lake in the city.
The bench led by the Chairman of Indian Justice (CJI) N V Ramana gave permission after obtaining a business from the state government would comply with HC’s assessment and also direction of the Central Polution Control Board from next year and so on.
The state also ensures that the remnants of pop idol will be deleted immediately after the immersion process ends.
“We interfere with HC’s assessment for soaking idol pops on the main bund tank for this year because the country and GHMC said that it was impossible for them to make alternative settings at the last minute,” SC Bench said.
All other workshops imposed by HC will remain and authorities must follow them, said SC, directing the state to submit a compliance report before HC.
From next year and so on, even the creation of pop idol has been declared violated the law by the High Court in the previous order.
The GHMC commissioner has convinced the Apex court that from next year they will use a baby pool for immersion.
CJI also appreciates Mamidi Venu Madhav’s advocate, the applicant in the current case, because it struggles to keep the lake clean.
