New Delhi: The Supreme Court was looking for a response to the center and the Delhi government on Tuesday on a request that was seeking rehabilitation and vaccination of beggar and bum after the Pandemic Covid-19.
The Apex court, which explains that it will not take “elitist views” that no beggars must be permitted on the streets because this is a socio-economic problem, asking for Public Lawyers Tushar Mehta to help in this matter.
Judge D y Chandrachud and M R Shah observed that people were generally forced to beg for the streets to minimize several basic livelihoods because of the absence of education and work.
“As the Supreme Court, we don’t want to take an elite view that there are no beggars that must be on the streets,” Bench said.
The court for issuing notifications to the center and the Government of Delhi, looked for their responses within two weeks with prayers made in petitions for beggar and vagabond rehabilitation, their vaccination and gave them a residence and food in the middle of a pandemic.
