New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the disgust petition submitted by Delhi Jal Board (DJB) against the Secretary of the Head of Haryana Viji Vardhan and other officials for allegedly not supplying the rule of 1996 Apex.
In the midst of allegations and charges of counter-made by Delhi and Haryana accused each other’s water crisis, the Supreme Court said no need for a court to disturb and ask the Delhi government to negotiate with its neighbor’s condition.
Judge L Nageswara Rao, S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian also raised objections to the Delhi government rushed to court to apply for insult.
Pressing humiliation, Senior Advocate Vikas Singh argued that the peak court had directed that the surface of the water in the Wazirabad reservoir was maintained at full capacity to serve the needs of national capital drinking water, which was not in accordance with Haryana.
He said the water was used for drinking purposes in Delhi and must be given priority on the water used for agriculture in Haryana.
DJB accused the reservoir Wazirabad only 31% full.
Replying to Delhi’s charges, Senior Advocate Shyam Divan for Haryana said more than 1,000 cusecs of water, and sometimes even more, being released consistently and applying for insulting is the misuse of legal proceedings.
He said large water infrastructure had emerged in Delhi after the 1996 decision and three additional water treatment plants were arranged.
Haryana argued that water transmission was not only through Yamuna, and the pipe allowed Delhi to take water even before Yamuna water reached the Wazirabad reservoir.
