The Supreme Court on Thursday provided 10 days protection from the arrest to Maharashtra BJP MLA Nitesh Rane in a case of murder attempts registered in the Sindhudurg district.
A bench led by the Chair of the Judge and Ramana directed Rane, Son of Union Minister Narayan Rane, to surrender before the trial court in the meantime and seek regular guarantees in this matter.
The Bombay High Court on January 17 has refused to provide pre-capture guarantees to Rane in this case, noting that the balance is needed between contrary to consideration of personal freedom and the right investigation in this matter.
A single judge of the High Court has rejected the Application of Anticipatory Assurance Rane and other Sandesh Sawant accused, but has allowed the third request accused of the third in this case, Manish Dalvi.
This case was related to the alleged attack on Sena Shiv activists in coastal districts.
