New Delhi: The Supreme Court is referred to as “disrupting” the decision of the Government of Uttar Pradesh to enable “Kanwar Yatra,” in the midst of a pandemic situation.
Taking awareness of Suo Motu about this issue, the court issued a notification to the center and government of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, looking for their responses.
This problem will appear to hear again on Friday.
Uttarakhand has banned Yatra this year a day back.
The bench headed by Justice R F Nariman said that citizens “confused” about the government over the government that allowed Yatra.
The Yogi Aditentalath government on Tuesday allows Yatra from July 25 on a limited scale and with strict compliance with the Covid protocol.
But it was clearly not an impressive peak court.
“Indians are really confused.
They don’t know what’s happening.
And all this in the middle of the prime minister, when asked about the third wave of Covid who attacked the nation, saying ‘we cannot compromise even a little,” said the court.
Every year, tens of thousands of “Kanwariyas” (Dewah Shivah) from northern countries walk on foot or in other ways to collect water from Ganga in Haridwar to offer in Shiva Temple in their area as part of Yatra.
The Uttarakhand government has canceled ‘Kanwar Yatra’ which allows possible third waves.
Minister of Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that saving lives in the pandemic period is the most important.
The state has come for severe criticism to enable Maha Kumbh in Hardwar earlier this year, after the area saw a large kitchen in cases.
