Kochi: The Supreme Court on Friday stays the government’s decision to conduct a plus-one inspection when the country witnesses a large number of Covid cases every day.
The Department of Public Education has decided to conduct an additional examination of September 5 and so on and the exam model is currently running online.
The decision was a big relief for parents and students who were worried about the offline exam in the middle of a pandemic.
In oral observations, SC bench led by KhanwiLkar justice slammed the government because it did not consider the security of students by continuing with offline test mode when the situation of the country in the country did not last.
The court emphasized the fact that around three lakh students would take an offline exam, scheduled to be held until September 27, in the middle of a pandemic.

Advice for the state government submitted that the exam will be held after taking all the safety steps needed and complying with the protocol.
Advice even refers to SSLC and plus two tests in April and the entrance examination in July ‘was carried out safely’ by the state government in the middle of a pandemic.
However, SC observed that the response from the advisor representing the country was unsatisfactory.

The court’s decision came in the midst of extensive criticism from teachers and parents on the government’s decision to conduct an examination.
On Thursday, the Minister of General Education V Sivankutty has launched a cleaning and sanitation drive throughout the state of the Plus-One inspection center.
