The upper court rejected oil to Katakey as Chair of the Committee who would assess and suggest steps to restore the National Park Dibru-Saikhowa and surrounded ecologically fragile areas in Tinsukia Assam Regency, which was well-affected by Baghjan oil in May 2020 .
In addition to Judge Katakey as chairman, the new committee will consist of Qamar Qureshi, a professor with Indian animal institutions; Ritesh Kumar, Director of Wetlands International South Asia; Bedanga Bordoloi, a land expert and G.S.

Baghjan blast, explosion and fire that lasts for more than five months in natural gas owned by the public sector unit left serious oil damage to ecology, in addition to causing RS 25,000 crore damage to the environment and around Baghjan in Tinsukia Regency, the investigation report Prepared by senior forest officials has revealed this year in June.

, Head of the main additional school forest and head of wildlife, Assam.
“This situation has occurred due to environmental permits provided by the Ministry of Environment, forest and climate change (MOEF & CC) with these projects clearly states that there is no national park and wildlife asylum within 10 km of the project location,” The report stated.
The court asked the committee to start his work quickly and submit a temporary report in a month on repair compensation oil to pay.
The court directs oil to pay the committee fee.
The 10 member panel was formed by NGT with the Secretary of the Head of Assam as Chair and Director of Oil Implementing as a member.
Disappointed with NGT orders, Kakkar-based environmental activist Kakkar approached the peak court who was looking for removal of oil from the committee which would assess the explosion caused by oil itself and suggest restorative steps.
During the trial, the Supreme Court when observing that “it would violate the principles of natural justice” if Managing Director of India’s Oil Limited (OIL) became a member of the Committee in any case related to the Incident of Baghjan Blowout Assam, has lived NGT orders in July.
