New Delhi: Taking a serious view of a real estate company that did not obey the order to return the money to the home buyer, the Supreme Court on Thursday said tight actions needed to be done against them and warned that their promoters would be sent behind the bar for non-compliance.
Judge D Y Chandrachud and M R Shah said not only the home buyer was harassed by orderlessness but also a valuable court time wasted because of fresh litigation with the petition of the bodies filed against builders in these cases.
“I think someone has to go to prison for a week, then people will take our order seriously.
We also have to impose the cost of punishment to the builder,” said Justice Chandrachud while hearing the inventory of insult against Ireo Grace Realtech because he did not obey the command of January to restore the near RS 1 Crore to the buyer who was forced to approach the return on SC.
It directed the company to pay the buyer Rs 2 Lakh when he was forced to move the SC again and Rs 15 Lakh to the National Law Service Authority as a punishment.
