New Delhi: Observing that the validity of the government’s scheme was unpredictable only because it was brought to fulfill the election promise, the Supreme Court on Tuesday enforced the 2016 Tamil Nadu Nadu’s decision to release agricultural loans and said there was nothing wrong in describing benefits for small and marginal farmers, Report Amit Anand Choudhary.
Judge Dy Chandrachud and when Bopanna said that the country’s policy passed through to the constitutional challenges and set aside the command of Madras HC which had held loan relief grants only for small and marginal farmers arbitrarily and directed the same benefits extended to all farmers regardless of the level of ownership their land.
Bench said that various studies showed that small farmers and marginal were rooted in deep poverty and suffered more due to flooding and droughts, and the government could provide assistance to them.
