Ahmedabad: A woman from Gota, while trying to buy Salwar RS 900 settings from the online shopping portal, trapped by cyber criminals and finally losing Rs 1 Lakh.
Bhavna Dave, 35, a resident of Veer Savarkar Heights in Gota, said he likes shopping online and has downloaded many online shopping applications.
Dave said that on June 20 he downloaded a certain application to buy Salwar settings and pay Rs 900 for it.
“On June 22, I got a call from a woman named Pooja from the application, who told me that I would get my package delivery about 28 days later.
I then told her to cancel the order but she said that if I paid a nominal amount, I would get Shipping quickly, “he said.
The woman sent her form on Whatsapp and told her to fill it and send it back.
He filled out a form that searched for ID and PIN UPI.
After a few seconds, Rs 5 is debited from his account.
Then, RS 99,996 is debited in eight transactions.
He approached the Cybercrime police and filed a complaint for cheating together with a violation below it acted against an unknown person.
