Udhagamandalam: Panic gripping Rock Lamb’s, popular tourist attractions in Coonoor, after a leopard killed Betis on Thursday night.
The big cat left behind the half-edible carcass, said the officer of the coonor sasikumar forest.
“We have advised the residents of Alakarai and its surroundings not to let their livestock graze in the forest area.
But the locals did not pay attention to our warning,” he told the forest staff team had been deployed to patrol the tourist attractions.
“After 7pm, the patrol team will monitor the location based on shifts,” said Sasikumar.Ramesh, street vendors, urging the Ministry of Forestry to permanently exert teams in Rock sheep to ensure tourist safety.
“The reserve forest in the coonoor range is known for its leopard population,” he said.
A few months ago, a leopard had killed a pet dog in the Elkhill area in Bandishola in the coonor forest range.
