Pune: Schools and colleges at Pune will reopen from February 1, announcing Maharashtra Deputy Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday after weekly study meetings with district officials.
Classes for IX to XII and colleges can be held full time according to their routine schedule.
For the main class (I to VIII), lectures will be held only for half an ordinary hour, at least a week.
Pawar, however, emphasizes that the approval of parents will be mandatory for students to school attend.
A decision to allow my standards for VIII to stay open for a full day will be taken in the next meeting depending on the decrease in Covid-19 positive levels, added pawar.
School and college management has welcomed the decision to reopen, and say it will be very beneficial for students who have delayed practicals.
The DAV CV school Head Madhavi said they would reopen on February 1 but only for the first middle class and now.
“We will reopen with a capacity of 50%.
Students who do not want to come to school can attend online classes.
As for the main class, we will conduct a survey and see how many parents are willing to send their wards to attend the class offline.

The HDFC school Head Amruta Prabhu said they would delay the reopening of schools physically at least until mid-February as many students and staff members suffered Covid-19.

According to pawar, reopening schools for IX standards and above will help in increasing vaccination.
