Bhubaneswar: The state government on Saturday decided to reopen the school for class X and class XII from July 26 after assessing the Covid-19 situation in the state.
Then classes of class IX and class XI will begin after August 16 and September 15 maintain the situation in mind.
Satyabrata Sahu, School and Mass Education Secretary, said the government has made several provisions to carry out teaching and learning processes for students during a pandemic.
But he agreed that they could not reach all school students through online classes.

Given this problem, the state government has made a decision to reopen schools for certain class students,” said Sahu.
He said they could reach 40 percent of students through online classes.
The remaining 60 percent of students cannot access online classes because of cellular network problems, he added.
Sahu said the online class will continue as before.
“It is not mandatory for students to go to school.
It all depends on the decision of the district collector to reopen his district schools.
The school will open at 10 am and close at 1.30 in the afternoon.
The academic year will begin from July 2021 and end in April 2022,” he added ,
More than 10 class X and class XII students in Odisha prepare for different national level entrances such as JEE / NEET / CATAT and for their annual council exam.
After the closing of the school, these students have lost around 150 regular class days.
“They need to understand the concept of links from their courses before sitting for the test.
Remembering this, we make a decision to reopen the school,” said Sahu.
This order will apply to all government and private schools.
The Department of School Education and Mass will issue a standard operating procedure (SOP) for schools to conduct classes by following all Covid-19 guidelines.
All teachers will be vaccinated against Covid-19 based on priority.
All district education officers are directed to keep the school place clean and follow the Covid-19 guidelines including the use of thermal scanning, masks and sanitation hands at school.
The school, which conducts the examination of the class X board, will open after the examination is complete, the department’s source said.
If the school is closed due to covid restrictions or other reasons in the future, the department has decided to conduct sustainable and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) by the Secondary Education Council (BSE) for class IX students and class X students for the first time.
Their students and parents must take this process seriously because this exam will help the board to publish student results.
The department has planned to conduct four formative assessments and two summative assessments.
This examination will be carried out by a class teacher or teacher in September next Sunday, the first November of the second week, the second week and the second week.
Detailed guidelines will be issued in this comprehensive evaluation immediately, the official source said.
Odisha Middle School Association (OSSTA) has welcomed the government’s decision to open schools in the state.
“Schools can follow Covid guidelines and hold classes smoothly.
We also welcome the government’s decision to start CCE by BSE.
This will help the board to publish students’ results if Covid does not allow later checks.
We demand this system before,” said Prakash Chandra Mohanty, OSSTA Secretary General.
Rakesh Palai, a class X student from the Ganjam district, said he could not attend many online classes because of the lack of smartphones.
“After opening the school, I will delete my doubts on various topics.
I welcome this decision,” he added.
