WASHINGTON: School mask requirements must reduce the Covid-19 infection outbreak among children, according to the US center for controlling and prevention of disease (CDC).
The CDC analyzes 520 US districts and found that pediatric cases rose sharply in places where school mask requirements were not made compulsory, the Washington Post reported.
Safe! You have managed to throw your voteogin to see schools without mask requirements 3.5 times more likely to experience an outbreak than a school with them, revealing a separate report about two densest districts in Arizona.
School opening, for the new academic year, has shown a surge in infection among children.
More than 900,000 students in 44 countries have been influenced by the close between August 1 and mid-September, the CDC report was revealed.
For about 17 percent of us districts, pediatric cases rose after the school was reopened.
And districts without mask requirements see a larger increase – around 18 cases per 100,000 more – compared to them.
Among the CDC regencies studied, the majority – around 62 percent – did not have a school mask mandate, the report said.
While “the results may not be moved generalized” yet, “the requirement of the school mask, along with other prevention strategies, including Covid-19 vaccination, is very important to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in school,” CDC said.
Although polls show that the majority of parents support mask requirements – and even though there are recommendations from pediatricians and CDCs – schools remain bitterly divided whether they will implement it.
Opponent of mask masks said parents had to decide whether their children use it, the report said.
Various studies have shown evidence that supports the mask efficacy in reducing the spread of coronavirus, including children and at school.
In July, the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended a universal masking in schools to ward off the more contagious Delta variants.
In North Carolina, researchers who track 100 school districts with masks from March to June found very little transmission at school.
The new CDC report, regardless of its limitations, representing “meaningful contributions” in the existing research body, Danny Benjamin was a professor of pediatrics at the Duke University quoted.
“This is the first publication that studies Delta variants in American schools that compare schools with and without mask policies,” Benjamin said.
