Lucknow: All academic institutions throughout the country will remain closed until January 30 because of the increase in Covid-19 cases.
The state government command on Saturday was issued by the Additional Secretary Secretary (HOUSE) Avnish Kumar Awasthi who said that all campuses will remain closed when the online class will continue to run on schedule.
Previously, schools and colleges were closed from January 6 to 16, and then closure was extended until January 23.
However, because of the sustainable situation of the number of Covid-19 cases, the date has been extended further.
The government’s decision to face the opposition from the Uttar Pradesh Private School Association (UPSA) and private school associations, which said that when public places such as parks, markets and open malls and where the Covid safety protocol was openly violated, why could not school open when they were opened strictly following safety norms.
“Schools must be opened for physical classes so there is no academic loss.
We have managed to run school in offline mode over the past five months and there are no Covid-19 outbreaks that have been reported from any school campus,” President Agarwal’s UPSA said.
He said that at least a class for senior students (IX to XII) or those who will appear in the board test must be permitted in offline mode.
