Hyderabad: The Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia has assured that the center will expand support for the development of six airports proposed in various places in Telangana in addition to providing metro train connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad.
He also said the center would help in expansion of international airport and to operate more direct flights to other countries from Hyderabad.
The Union Minister, who was in the city to participate in various developmental programs, met with the chairman of the K Chandrasekhar Rao Minister in Pragati Bhavan on Saturday at the invitation of CM.
KCR requested support from the Civil Service Ministry for airport development because Telangana especially Hyderabad had witnessed rapid growth, it was the center of economic growth and emerged as a hub in the business sector, IT, Health and Tourism.
“Because people from various places in this country and other international cities, direct flight connectivity must be increased primarily for countries such as Southeast Asia, Europe, the US from Hyderabad,” KCR said.
Responding to the request for CM KCR, the Union Minister said the center would expand all assistance for Hyderabad International Airport, because Hyderabad developed as an international city.
Jyotiraditya Scindia said direct steps would be taken to begin operations at the Mamunur airport proposed in Warangal, which is part of the six airports proposed in the state.
He said technical permits for other airports proposed in Jakranpally in the Nizamabad district and to check the establishment of the airport in Adamanabad with the help of the Air Force.
The Union Minister assured that CM would examine providing facilities for landing and take-off small planes in Peddapalli (Basanth Nagar), Kothagudem, Devarakadra (Mahbub Nagar).
KCR brought Scindia’s notification that passenger traffic increased at the international airport in recent years.
