NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: A scramble for meeting slots amongst candidates who must combine US schools this fall resulted in glitches around the embassy portal because it declared processing student visas in India on Monday.
“We’re alert to the high need for student visa appointments.
Please remember, don’t refresh too frequently, because you might be locked from your accounts.
Appointments stay available at all articles, and we are going to continue to include appointments conditions permit,” the US embassy said in a tweet on Monday once it declared the procedure for easing travel for people who need to join schools in July and August.
Pupils who maintained sterile in the expectation of reserving a slot proved finally blocked for”questionable activity” to get 72 hours.
By day, the website had a message which stated:”We’re down for maintenance”.
The embassy’s conversation warning students to not refresh too frequently attracted scores of responses.
“My account has locked with no previous warning.
Some more are confronting this problem also.
Ask one to unlock the account, at this moment,” said .
The consulate had held a webinar on June 10 to hand out advice regarding visas interviews along with pre-boarding requirements.
Officials had promised candidates which everybody would find a slot when the procedure started.
“Student unions remain a high priority to the US mission to India and now we’re making every effort to ease student traveling in time to the autumn semester,” that the embassy had stated.
But, an aspirant who’s flying out to get a post-doctoral programme stated,”There has been no clarity regarding when the embassy would open slots.
Many logged into a bit after midnight.
After we realised that the website wasn’t accepting reservations, we waited for a little and logged again in the afternoon ” Study overseas counsellor Pratibha Jain stated,”That is the very first time that the consulate site has really shrunk.
I’m surprised that they didn’t expect the rush.
Nobody managed to start the website.
Going from the last figures about 80,000 into 1 lakh students should have logged at exactly the identical time; it’s similar to opening up a two-by-two doorway for entrance into a huge arena; there will be a stampede.” The following counsellor included:”Ideallythe procedure should have been reversed.” Pupils who’ve been locked out have asked the embassy to reestablish their balances.
1 dad tweeted requesting frozen accounts to be reopened:”Please empathise and let our children undergo more anxiety.” Yet another explained:”The website kept crashing leaving us no option except to log in several times and today we have been blocked for 72 hours” Meanwhile, France is wooing pupils from India and has graduated pupil visa processing.
Emmanuel Lenain, ambassador of France to India, tweeted:”Seeking to study in France? Student Loan applications are now available in the closest VFS facility!
