The minister also said the census schedule was designed in consultation with various stakeholders, including the state government.
The intention of the center to conduct a 2021 census was notified in Indian news on March 28, 2019 but because of the outbreak of Covid-19, the census activity was postponed, he told parliament.
Rai said during census training, data was collected on demographics and various socio-economic parameters such as education, SC and ST, religion, language, marriage, fertility, disability, employment and individual migration.
He said the upcoming census would be the first digital census and there were provisions for self-enumeration.
Cellular applications for data collection and census portal for management and monitoring of various census related activities have been developed, he added.
Individual data is not used for other database preparation, including the national list of residents (NRC), and only aggregate census data at various administrative levels released, said minister.
