New Delhi: Paying attention to the fact that no patient at the Sardar Patel Covid Care Center, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has stopped the service for sanitation and removal of biomedical waste.
Former home leader Narendra Chawla said that the contract given for services will be continued if needed.
The decision was also taken when the Civic body went shortage of funds, he added.
“Because there are no patients in the middle and we also don’t have enough funds to pay for concession holders, services have been postponed.
We have faced problems in paying regular salaries and trying to avoid additional burdens,” he said.
Previously, in January, the Civic body stated its inconvenience by continuing service because it did not pay the amount spent on maintenance by the Delhi government.
SDMC demanded Rs 3 Crore for resolving a delayed bill but there was no reply from the other side, Chawla said.
However, then in March-April, SDMC released a contract to private companies to continue maintenance work in the middle after the second wave of Covid-19 crashed into the city.
In May 2020, the central government has decided to establish the Radha Soami Satsang complex center in Chhatarpur.
“While SDMC was assigned to maintain housekeeping and sanitation services, it was decided during several meetings and inspections that the Delhi government would bear the costs for housekeeping services.
Then, the DEMS department deployed a total of 200 staff through private concession holders.
But there is no reply replaced,” Chawla claims ,
