New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) will conduct a survey of snacks / vendors in the Lajpat Nagar market through vendors nominated by the Delhi government.
“A meeting will be called on Thursday with all stakeholders to decide on future actions.
We will provide assignments to two vendors authorized by the Delhi Government to travel because they have all the necessary technical knowledge, labor and trained properly,” said a South Korporan official.
The move was taken towards the Delhi High Court, which has given two weeks to the civil bodies to complete the exercise.
Civil officials claim that the market has been declared ‘No Hawking Zone,’ but vendors can still be found sitting here.
Government notice not to release it until the city seller’s committee survey is complete, has triggered confusion.
“We have traveled anti-encroaching every week in these markets.
We need clarity whether to do vendor surveys in ‘no seller zone’ in Lajpat Nagar.
Now clarity has been obtained from the court, we will conduct a survey and submit details on The court and with the city seller’s committee.
“Nagar’s Lajpat trader previously moved the court to the city seller’s committee survey.
“The market has been declared a no-hawking / no-squatting zone by the Supreme Court.
In certain circumstances, the market should not fall under PurView the city seller’s committee to conduct a survey.
That is why our trader’s federation has submitted an insulting application to keep a survey,” said Ashwani Marwah, Secretary General of the Association of Traders Lajpat Nagar.
The government in 2019 has asked the Delhi Civic Agency to conduct surveys against vendors through their respective city seller committees.
“After conducting a survey throughout the city, inviting public objections, verifying the identity of this vendor and completing other jobs, the city seller’s committee will make decisions about the number of vendors that will be permitted at any location,” said an official.
“We have held a meeting with the seller’s committee.
Surveys throughout the city are likely to end in September.”
