Chennai: a city restaurant, famous for obscene dance showing and selling liquor without a license, it must be sealed within 24 hours, Madras High Court has told Chennai’s police.
Justice S Subramaniam, directed the police to take immediate steps to seal the location of the Pals Restaurant in Anna Salai, said the police must often inspect and identify clubs, restaurants, associations throughout the state and start actions in terms of illegality.
The court issued an order when throwing a six-year case, initially submitted by Jayaprakash in 2015, looking for action against restaurants to arrange obscene dance performances and present licenses.
Pil-Petition said that he visited the Pals Restaurant to watch the ‘cultural dance’ he was subject to an entrance fee of Rs 400.
He was also surprised to watch that obscene dance performings were being held in restaurants with the guise of cultural performances.
“Young girls aged between 16 and 35 years were made to dance at the show,” he thought.
Responding to the application, the government’s advocate submitted that inspection by the jurisdiction police revealed that the restaurant owner had abused the license obtained to regulate a cultural dance performance and was doing obscene dances.
Record submission, the court said, “the accusation is undoubtedly seriously affecting public order and it causes a greater disturbance to the public in general.” When illegal as it is permitted to continue for a sustainable period, no doubt the same thing will cause greater rights violations for residents.
Voice pollution is also made.
While doing obscene dances, loudspeakers were used to violate the noise pollution rules and it created problems in the region, the court added.
