Vadodara: Gujarat again became the second country with most of the country’s fat in the country in 2020.
The National Crime Records (NCRB) report was titled ‘Crime In India 2020’, released on Wednesday, revealed that last year more than 13.7 cases Lakh Indian Criminal Code and more than 21 Lakh cases are listed in state laws awaiting trials in different courts.
Dendency cases saw an increase above 19% compared to the previous year.
The level of pendencies from these cases also rose 5.9%.
Gujarat has the highest case delayed by trials at the end of 2019 and 2018 as well.
The Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions were implemented inhibiting last year’s trial, opposition Lawyers were practicing criminal law.
They say that other factors also increase the whole number of cases delayed in the state.
The high number of registered shots for Covid guidelines violations is also added to the burden of the justice department.
“Because of locking, only cases are urgent like a guarantee application that was heard last year, causing an increase in a delayed trial,” said a lawyer based in Vadodara Hitesh Gupta.
“In addition to pandemics, there are also other limitations such as the lack of infrastructure and lack of backend staff in court which slows down the justice system,” Gupta said.
He added that supporting staff such as stenographers or officers that judges need a faster trial, not available in sufficient quantities.
Now, when the physical audience of the case has been continued, the lawyer wants their case to move forward faster.
“The court publishes calls and even if all witnesses are present, it is impossible to examine it in one sitting due to limitations,” Gupta told Toi.
While the level of confidence in the case listed under the state law increases last year to 54.9%, decreasing to 40.7% in cases listed under the IPC.
