Bhubaneswar: After supervision, polls officials have resisted 8,648 nominations submitted by candidates for the election of Panchayat to come in the state.
This includes 1,753 nominations for Sarpanch Pos and 1,119 for Samiti members.
Sources in the State Election Commission (SEC) said 232 nominations for Zilla Parisad and 5,544 for members of the environment were also not received.
“The reason for rejection varies from non-submission of caste certificates or receipts of money in the absence of candidates in selection rolls for certain areas, where they want the contest,” said Senior Senior Officer.
After screening, around 2.20 the lakh nomination remains valid.tnn
