Washington: White House spokesman Jen PSAKI said the week he had tested positive Covid-19, after deciding not to travel to Europe with US President Joe Biden when his family members contracted the virus.
PSAKI said in a statement that even though he had been tested negative several times last week, the test returned positive on Sundays.
“Even though I don’t have close close contact with the President or a senior member of the White House staff since Wednesday – and tested negatively for four days after the last contact – I revealed a positive test today from many transparency,” PSAKI said in a statement.
“I last saw the President on Tuesday, when we sat outside more than six feet apart, and put on a mask.” PSAKI said he had mild symptoms, where he edited the Covid-19 vaccine, and said he worked from home.
He added that he would quarantine for 10 days before taking another test and finally returned to the White House.
Biden, 78, is in Rome on Sunday for the G20 summit and will be in Glasgow on Monday for the COP26 climate summit.
He received a Covid-19 vaccine amplifier shot in September.
Many Americans are still opposing vaccinations, with only 58 percent of the population that are fully immunized.
The United States has recorded more than 745,000 deaths from Covid-19.
US health authorities have approved Booster Shots of the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.
