Surat: A 50-year-old security guard who was arrested in the ban on September 1, died due to brain hemorrhage in a new civil hospital (NCH) in a letter on Monday morning.
Family members from Shivsingh Tomar who died alleged that he was tortured in police custody after his arrest and refused to accept his body for cremation.
However, after the intervention of senior police officers and the guarantee of a thorough investigation, Tomar’s family accepted his body which would be taken to his place of origin in Muratina, Madhya Pradesh, for cremation.
Tomar, who worked as a security guard in the diamond unit was arrested on September 1 in the ban on a ban and was then released on the guarantee the following day.
“On September 3, Tomar went to return to his cellphone and cash from the police.
After returning from the Tomar Health Police Station deteriorated and brought to NCH where the doctor claimed that he suffered from brain bleeding,” said Tomar’s nephew to Ti.
Tomar was placed on the ventilator on September 3, but he did not respond to care and surrendered on Monday, Satish said.
He alleged that his uncle was tortured while in police custody.
The family has also submitted a written application on September 4 which accused the torture by the police.
The police have convinced action based on postmortem reports, Satish said.
“The day after his release, Tomar came to take his phone.
He was normal when he left the police station, seen in CCTV footage.
Postmortem confirmed that the man died of brain bleeding due to high blood pressure,” said Sajjansinh Parmar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone I.
