New Delhi: The Indian Air Force was looking at the procurement of around 350 aircraft in the next two decades, Air Head Marshal RKS Bhadauria said on Wednesday.
In an address at the conference in the Indian aerospace, the head of the air staff also talked about the need to develop asymmetrical abilities to increase the overall strength of the IAF in view of challenges from China.
“Seeing North neighbors, we must have a niche technology that must be built at home by our own industry for security reasons,” said IAF’s head.
Stressing that India becomes independent in the defense sector is very important because it deals with various challenges, Air Head Marshal Bhadauria said the IAF was looking at the procurement of around 350 aircraft from within the country in the next two decades.
At the same time, he noted that it was a rough projection.
The Head of the IAF also said Combat Tejas fighter projects had instilled confidence in the aerospace industry in India and had great potential to grow further.
