Guwahati: The trial of foreigners in Bongaiga Regency Assam has summoned a 60-year-old woman to prove its citizenship again, only more than two years after examining the credentials following police referrals and declare a Bonafid Indian citizen, reported the Rokibuz age.
Bharati Sarkar, a resident of Jamdoha Village, is scheduled to appear before the same court who previously cleared it.
Previous appearance on March 8, 2019, based on a call in a case submitted by the Border Wing of the Police Assam in 2005.
On that occasion, the court decided that there was no evidence to identify Bharati as Bangladesh Illegal immigrants “Post-1971 or other flows”.
This time, Bharati had to defend himself in the second case filed by the police in 2010, his branding as “foreign suspicion”.
The police suspected he entered Assam illegally post-March 24, 1971, the cut-off mentioned in the ASSAM 1985 agreement as determining citizenship for immigrants and their descendants.
Bongaigaon SWapnaneel Deka confirmed that there were two cases against Bharati and she was only limited in one.
Putra Bharati, who manages a small shop, said the family did not have the means to fight the second citizenship case.
