Mumbai: This center will spend RS 200 Crore on repairs and rebuilding Seepz, the oldest export-oriented zone in India in Andher (East).
Other Rs 50 Crore will be used to make public service centers.
The Union Minister of Trade and Piyush Industry Goyal, spoke at a meeting with the export promotion board, the commodity board and export development authority, the room said would be made in Seepz for more units.
“A new place must be built in SEEPZ for newer units in and also to move units that exist to new places,” he said.
“About Rs 50 Crore will be spent to prepare public service center facilities and approximately Rs 200 Crore for repairs and rebuilding in Seepz.” Santacruz Electronic Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ) was established on May 1, 1973, as an EPZ Uni-product solely for the manufacture and export of electronic goods.
In 1987-88, the government allowed the creation and export of gem and jewelry items.
Seepz is one of the three export processing zones that are converted into a special economic zone in November 2000.
Rajiv Pandya, President, Permata SEEPZ and Jewelry Manufacturing Association, said several units facing space constraints and cannot develop due to policy restrictions, which did not develop Space transfer.
“When a unit moves out, another unit that wants to take over space for expansion cannot do it because of policy restrictions.
The government has promised to eliminate such constraints,” he said.
Pandya said seasonal jewelry sales and they need to work for a sagging period, which will help them maintain labor and remain competitive.
This association also increases high premium problems.
Colin Shah, Chairperson, Permata and Jewelry Export Promotion Board, said the government promised e-commerce policy as part of foreign trade policy in October.
Pandya said the center of public facilities would be very useful for smaller units.
