Selected sites for regional forensic science laboratories

Coimbatore: The District Administration plans to allocate two hectares in Kurichi Village in Madukkarai Taluk to establish a sophisticated Regional Forensic Science Laboratory.
The laboratory, currently functions from a building owned by the Ministry of Health in Race, facing the crisis space.
Collectors of G S Secseran recently visited the facility to assess the situation.
“Revenue officers have identified two hectares in Kurichi Village to establish a new laboratory.
All Tahsildars in the district are advised to provide land details to the Forensic Science Laboratory officials,” Sameran said.
The forensic expert team led by Deputy Director of Laboratory Munirajan and Uma examined land in Kurichi on Friday.
An official said that the Government Government would allocate Rs 100 Crore to establish new facilities in Coimbatore.
“The new lab will allow us to do DNA analysis and profiles.
Until now, DNA was analyzed in the laboratory in Chennai.” Laboratory, established in the race course in 1974, provides facilities to analyze material evidence connected with criminal cases and civil cases .
It has seven divisions.
The main division, toxicology, analyzing the liver, kidneys, urine and blood to find existence of toxic substances such as pesticides, insecticides and metal poisons.
Experts here can send results to court within five days.
Labs as many as 2,000 visca every month for analysis of coimbatore, nilchiris, tirupur and erode.
The laboratory also has a ban, narcotics division, biology division, and computer forensic division.
