Panaji: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a charm attack in the Mormugao constituency, interacting with the locals and asking about their aspirations.
Gandhi went campaigning from the door to the door with Congress candidates for Mormugao, Sankalp Amonkar, and also asked the leadership of the State to overcome the concerns of voters.
Gandhi arrived at the airport of Goa around 11am on Friday and headed to Headland Sada, where he convinced people that their demands would be intended.
He also asked about the impact of Covid-19 and if the Congress candidate has helped the family during a pandemic.
Scion Gandhi was accompanied by a cave table in the cost of Dinesh Gundu Rao, spokesman for the Alka Lamba National Congress, Congress of President Girish Chodankar, and others.
He visited several houses, spending almost 15 minutes in each.
Most houses are around Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), the main port focuses on coal logistics and iron ore.
A girl who suffers from bronchitis raises concerns about coal pollution in MPT and its impact on public health.
Locals complained to Gandhi that houses given to them by the Goa State Rehabilitation Board in 2011 remained in the name of the government even though some guarantees that residents would get ownership.
The Goa State Rehabilitation Board has built 256 prements in Headland Sada for people affected by the Sada Varunapuri NH 17-B project and also 40 flats in Joshi Bhat for fishermen who were moved from Khariadada.
“Tell me what you want to do Congress for Goa,” Gandhi said when talking with the family.
The head of the family complained about unemployment in the state and harassment of the local BJP Mla.
“Focus on work,” Congress leader said, turned to Chodankar.
In one of the houses, a man offered to sing Bollywood songs for Scion Gandhi and the last one pushed him.
He also stopped for selfie requests from children and entered people’s homes even though his security staff seemed reluctant.
Gandhi seems to have made an impression on the locals, with women and children asking for photos with him.
He even required a woman who asked him to remove his mask so he could see his face.
