PANAJI: BJP on Wednesday denied nomination to the State Minister Shripad Kid and Corrim members ZP Siddhesh from Cumbharjua and Panaji Mla Stanasio ‘Babush’ Aide near and former Taleiga Sarpanch Agnetha from Santa Cumha from Santa Cruz.
Cabidature Cumbharjua was given to sit at Mla Pandurang Madkaikar, and Goa Sarpanch Janita, while Santa Cruz tickets went to Sitting Mla Antonio Fernandes.
BJP held several rounds of discussion before the final list was stated to avoid angry members of this constituency.
The day after he joined BJP, a former member of Congress and former Sarpanch Calangute was also mentioned in the list as a candidate for Calangute.
Sequeira, who openly supported the former BJP Calangute Mla Michael Lobo in 2012, will take the lobo which is a congressional candidate for Calangute.
In Santa Cruz, there are three candidates in the race – sitting MLA Fernandes, Chimbel ZP members of Girish Uskaikar and Da Cunha.
While Monserrate strongly encouraged the nomination of Da Cunha, the local BJP Mandal opposed his nomination which stated that they did not want candidates from outside the election.
After several rounds of discussion with Mandal and Monserrate, BJP decided to give a ticket to Fernandes.
“I told the party that any candidate was given a ticket, I would wholeheartedly work to make it selected,” Monserrate told Toi.
As soon as he was rejected by Cumbharjua tickets, Siddhesh held a meeting with his supporters to discuss his actions in the future.
This is the second time BJP helped him a ticket.
During the 2017 assembly selection, the former Minister of Manohar Parragar has triggered Madkkkaikar at BJP and gave him a ticket to the contest from Cumbharjua.
BJP has announced the name Narayan up to Cortim after sitting, Mla Alina Saldanha left the party to follow AAP tickets.
