PANAJI: Congress released another list of candidates on Thursday, choosing a former AAM AADMI (AAM) Party Convened and Bureaucrat Elvis Gomes as a candidate for Panaji.
This effectively stacked hopes of former Panaji City (PKC) company Mayor Uday Madkaikar and Surendra Furtado who are competing to party tickets.
With this, Congress has announced candidates for 36 seats, with only the remaining Savordem.
Usually the last announced its candidates, Congress has shown alacrity in announcing its candidates before the nomination submission process can begin, said political observer.
Congress has also decided to leave with the former BJP MLA Carlos Almeida for the Vasco constituency, where the former chairman of Kadamba Transport Corporation hopes to make him three in a row.
For the constituency of the Benaulim, Congress has chosen Anthony Dias, which recently stopped TMC after being rejected by tickets.
For the constituency of Shiroda and Curchorem, the party has chosen the Bornar and Amit Patkar as a candidate to take BJP.
“Congratulations to all five selected Congress candidates for the contest for the Selection of Goa 2022 Assembly.
I hope the best and hope to see them as MLAS,” said Congress Congress Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Gomes has served as a former commissioner of the CCP and has also maintained a bond in the country’s capital when he served as Director of the City Administration.
Congress intends to oppose elections in 37 elections, with the partner of the Goa Forward Party Alliance fighting in the remaining three seats.
Goa went to the poll on February 14 to choose the legislator to home 40 members.
“I express my sincere thanks to all the main leadership of the Goa Congress Committee to overcome my faith and submit the responsibility of the Curchorem Assembly to me,” said Patkar.
Party choices for Panaji and Benaulim constituencies are expected to create heartburn.
Former Tourism Minister Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco and Architect Royla Fernandes has begun to campaign in the constituency of the Benaulim, who will see a multi-click fight.
Interestingly, Fernandes and Gomes have compiled the 2017 election as AAP candidates, but of the 39 AAP candidates, Fernandes is the only one who puts a difficult battle in the Benaulim to save his deposit.
Despite track record in 2017, Congress spent his name and has trusted the Dias.

TMC imports are in, while the congressional loyalists come out,” said Royla Fernandes.
