Hubballi: Following the Administrative Order of the Dharwad District which prohibits public demonstrations in the Run-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) board – orders issued after direction by the State General Election Commission, all political parties have adopted door-to-door models to campaign.
Furthermore, the rule clearly stipulates that the parties can campaign in the group no more than five strong members.
HDMC Commissioner Suresh Itnnal confirmed to the Toi that they held back permission for political demisting, since the assembly of a large number of people in an uncontrolled place.

“The Election Commission has explained to the candidates that they can only be involved in the door-to-door campaign.
Only five people, including candidates, can participate in the campaign; all have to wear masks and follow all safety guidelines,” said itnal.
The HDMC commissioner said that there was a proposal to allow the party to hold a political demonstration that would be attended by less than 100 people.
“But the EC has banned all demonstrations and public meetings for body selection for civil bodies,” Ilnal added.
He further added that candidates would not be allowed to use vehicles to campaign.
“Our official team, including returns and assistant officers returning, will ensure compliance with the model behavior model.
The action will begin with candidates who are caught violating the safety norms,” said itnal, adding that each candidate must look for the previous permission from HDMC before starting His campaign.
“We will also take steps to ensure that only one candidate campaign is on the same road at a time to prevent cramming too many people in limited space,” said the HDMC commissioner.
However, political parties are not too happy with the arrangement.
They showed that covering the entire ward in a short span of time by knocking on the door of the residents would prove difficult.
