Chennai: Semester Exams in all techniques, art and science of colleges and polytechnics in the state have been postponed to provide more time to students to prepare offline mode.
The semester exam will begin only after January 20, 2022, the Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi said on Friday.
Sexy students have protested for the past few days demanding that semester examinations be carried out online.
The Ministry of Higher Education, along with the test controller from the State University, is discussed with 11 student organizations, including the Federation of Indian Students (SFI) and the Student Federation of All India (AISF) regarding their opposition to the offline exam.
“Representatives of student organizations also want an offline fashion exam.
However, they want more time to prepare for the exam.
They say students have attended offline classes only for the past two and a half months.
They have asked for a month to prepare for a month.
We have decided to give them two months, “said Ponmudi told reporters.
The state government will withdraw the cases submitted to students who protest, he added.
He also said universities and colleges will resolve the syllabus before the start of the semester exam and conduct the model exam before the semester exam from January 20.
City Colleges also welcomed the decision that said it would give them more time to resolve the syllabus after physically the class was influenced by a rain holiday.
“Because of a prolonged rain holiday, we will be able to complete the syllabus only in the second or third week of December.
Students will get more time to prepare for the semester exam,” said a principal from City College.
The headmaster said the art of art and science would be able to complete the syllabus for first year students before the beginning of the semester exam.
Previously, Madras University plans to conduct semester exams from the University of December 20 and Anna from December 27.
