Coimbatore: The state government has set a roll of rolling to establish Poongga Semmozhi in the city, Electricity V Senthil Balaji said on Monday.
“The necessary government orders have been issued to establish a park,” he said while speaking at a function here to issue an identity card to the beneficiaries of the urban work scheme.
The park was announced by the chairman of the minister of M.
2010 in 2010 during the World Classic Tamil Conference held at Coimbatore.
It is proposed to come in the middle prison page in the city.
However, this project was placed in the backburner for 10 years as long as the AIDMK rule.
After the DMK won this year’s election, Minister M K Stalin, during his first visit to Coimbatore, said the project would be taken by the government.
In a November speech in the city, he said the park would be formed at a 200 crore Rs cost.
However, the subtleties of the project were not announced later.
Even now, Balaji does not enter the project details.
Although the reason the central prison was said to be a site for the park when it was originally proposed, the state government has not explained if it stands with that decision or if there will be changes in the location.
Balaji measures 54 roads inaugurated 14km with the cost of Rs 6 Crore in the city.
Given that Hospital 200 has been allocated as a special fund to repair and deliver a damaged road, Balaji said 89 roads measuring 17.87 km will be built in the first phase at a cost of Rs 10 Crore.
