WASHINGTON: The Senate has supported geneticist Eric Lander to become President Joe Biden’s chief science advisor, among the final unfilled Cabinet articles in the Biden government.
Lander, founding director of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, has been accepted by a voice vote Friday to function as manager of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, a standing Biden has increased to Cabinet rank.
Lander, that is a mathematician and molecular biologist, was lead author of the very first paper announcing the specifics of the human genome, the so called”book of life” His first nomination was delayed for weeks since senators sought more info about encounters that he had with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a disgraced financier that had been charged with sex trafficking until his suicide.

Neera Tanden withdrew her nomination to OMB head after a few senators said they wouldn’t vote for her.
