Nagpur: The State Election Commission (SEC) reportedly directed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to prepare and submit a draft justification of wards on or before 30 November.
The Civic body has completed 52 wards in the environmental system of three new members.
An official from NMC told the toi set of letters that set the deadline to arrive a few days ago.
“This is the first time since the announcement of environmental restrictions given by the SEC,” he said.
In accordance with the latest decisions, NMC has completed an increase in the number of Corporators selected to 156.
At present, the number of selected Corporators is 151.
The NMC house also consists of five co-optic corporators.
Notification of the number of Corator Co-opted is likely to be issued in the coming days.
NMC has completed the number of corporators according to the population census in 2011.
The 2021 census has been postponed because of Covid-19, therefore, the number of Corator which will not be in accordance with the existing city population.
Also, NMC is preparing fresh boundaries of all wards according to the population census in 2011.
Because of this, some wards tend to have more voters compared to others.
On August 25, the SEC had directed the start of the ward restriction process.
At that time, the single member ward system exists.
NMC began the process but stopped after the government revised into the three-member environment system on September 22.
The process again experienced a shock with the government’s decision to increase the number of corporators on October 27.
For 2017 city elections, the process began in August and was completed on November 25.

Senior Corporator Sunil Agrawal said city selection can be done on time on time if you want to do it.
“Previously, seconds were used to provide 45 days for the selection of MLC.
Now, seconds have reduced a period of up to 24 days.
The SEC can do a timely election if it reduces the day for advice and objections, and speeds up the process,” he said.
As per normal schedule, the code of ethics must take effect in the first week of January followed by a poll in the second or third week of February.
