Send roadmap to repair & satisfy NH-53: HC

Nagpur: PEVED for the non-compliance from the previous order, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday direct the authority of the National Highway India (NHAI) to submit a roadmap to provide details of plans and time where, all jobs, all NH-53 jobs (formerly NH-6) from Nagpur to Malkapur will be completed and the road is made decent for vehicle traffic.
Before delaying hearing until December 15, the division bench consisting of Judge Sunil Shukre and Anil Pansare was looking for progress reports from photographic claims with photographic evidence.
The court heard Pil (No.
22/2019) by Arun Patil’s lawyer through the advice of Firdos Mirza highlighting the pathetic conditions of Amravati-Akola-Jalgaon Road and Wardha-Sindhkhed Raja Road which caused many fatal accidents and lost valuable life.
Previously, Senior Advisor Sunil Manohar appeared for Nhai, convincing the judges that he would personally ensure that the court direction meets the deadline.
Judges then verbally ask the applicant and respondents to jointly visit the road and suggest steps to fix them.
According to the applicant, a lot of stretching on Jalan Amravati-Akola-Jalgaon was in the worst condition because of failure to make improvements for a long time.
Depending on the large size of the crater size that has developed in many places, he said the possibility of an accident that led to the loss of human life and valuable property could not be ruled out.
While the toll roads are religiously collected by contractors, Patil said the task to keep the road maintained and user-friendly regularly violated by the company.
“Nhai has given a contract to build a stretch of Amravati-Akola-Jalgaon to a private company, which went bankrupt and since then the work was stopped over the past few years, which leads to severe setbacks in road conditions,” he said.
Judges said that it seems that the NH-53 has been under the process of repairs and widening for more than five to six years, but instead of seeing an increase in these conditions, there was a setback.
