Singh also suggested the elderly population with co-morbidities, which will also be considered for the third dose, to consult a doctor before conducting a ceasure dose.
In a letter to all DCs and the health authority concerned on December 31, Singh clarified that old beneficiaries did not need to provide a doctor’s certificate to vaccines to take third jab but it was recommended that they consult their personal doctor for the needs of prudential doses.
Secretary said, “For the third dose, only people will be considered eligible that takes the second dose of at least 39 weeks ago because of the immunity of their vaccine induced.” The prudential dosage intended for frontline workers, health staff and elderly population with co-morbidities, although not mandatory, are intended to increase immunity to newer virus strains that can occur in the days to come.
Using the need for prudential and vaccine and vaccines, in general, the Head of Preventive Social Medicine in the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr.
Devesh Kumar, said this vaccine was intended to produce immunity to the virus.
“Even though there is no argument for the fact that immunity developed naturally better and stronger against any virus, vaccines help increase immunity and protect people from contracting new strains of viruses,” Dr.
Kumar added.
He further said, “Those who are exposed to continuous viruses, such as health workers and frontline staff, are at a greater risk because they are under mutant attacks and no one knows whether newer variants will result in delta or more .
“Asked why the current variants have violated shield vaccine, Dr.
Kumar said,” the vaccine may not prevent infection all the time but they do not allow patients to be serious.
“Dr.
Kumar said,” those who have been tested.
the positives have to wait for a week after getting RT-PCR negative reports before going for vaccines and for those who have mild symptoms Covid-19 must undergo a RT-PCR test to put aside the possibility of infection.
The immunity is compromised at the time of infection and taking a vaccine during that time is not recommended.
“The doctor has asked for a teenager recipient Teen to avoid taking pain after taking a shot.
“Pain in place due to ordinary vaccine shots and usually goes in one or two days without any medication.
The pain killer to manage such pain is not recommended,” said a health department official while quoting the latest tweet from the manufacturer of Covaxin Bharat Biotech.
