Kolkata: A 61-year-old managing director of the company registered in BSE was found killed on Sunday night – stabbed in the neck and legs – on the ground floor of the old ancestral house in the Kankulia Road near Golpark.
Company executives, Subir Chaki, live in top-class condos in New Town and have placed houses for sale.
The family driver’s body, 65-year-old Rabin Mondal, was also found with a similar injury on the first floor.
Double murder sent shock waves through the middle class environment and the corporate world.
Chaki is the Director of Acting Acting Williamson Magor Owned by Kilburn Engineering Kilburn Ltd.
and has served in the main managerial role in several group companies, including the EVERYEADY industry and MCNALLY MYJI Engineering Ltd.
He had finished his school from St Xavier and continued to study at St Xavier.
IIT-Kharagpur and Iim-Calcutta.
Chaki lives with his wife, mother and mother-in-law at Duplex apartment in the city of Uniworld, New Town.
His son lived in London while his daughter, who lived in Bengaluru, was in a new city to spend pujas with his parents.
Senior executives, who have two apartments in Uniworld City and one in Urbana from Em Bypass, have registered this property with the names of family members – wife, daughter – a few years ago.
His mother lived in Kankulia Road House until 2016 but after that moved to his new city.
Part of the ground floor of the house rented to the consulting company.
According to the police, Chaki reached the Kankulia road property at around 5:30 a.m.
on Sunday to meet with brokers or buyers proposed for the old house six decades.
Mercedes was found parking outside the home.
When he didn’t return home late at night, Anuradha’s wife called him several times but the cellphone was turned off.
He contacted several neighbors in Kankulia Road and several relatives who lived nearby to ask if he had stopped by.
Relatives then contact the police.
The police reached the address and found murder.
“We have learned that Subir Chaki is related to some brokers and prospective buyers.
He wants to sell a house after Durga Puja.
On Sunday, he might mention some of them to show property,” said Joint CP (Crime) Murlidhar Sharma.
While the police were investigating everyone Chaki relating to recently, especially the brokers and potential buyers, they did not rule out the possibility of murderers disguised themselves as buyers to loot it or even someone known as the layout of the house.
Family members have not identified anything missing from home.
“The family was destroyed.
He was like a star guide.
He didn’t have an enemy.
We didn’t suspect anyone.
We have guarded the body in the morgue and is waiting for his son to arrive from London to do the last rite,” said Gaith Chaki, a cousin.
The initial post mortem report stated that Chaki had suffered a large stab wound on his neck and legs with sharp weapons.
The driver has more injuries: deep stab wounds on the neck, back and legs.
“The time of death has been determined three to four hours after lunch, which translates around 5pm and 6pm,” said an officer.
Arup Biswas, an employee of a consulting company on the ground floor said he had never met Chaki and rented paid online.
He claimed when he came to open the office on Monday, he found the door locked from inside.
“The killers may have entered the office from inside the house and raced the door to prevent outside interference,” said an investigative officer.
Neighbors say property buyers and agents often visit homes.
“Most of the time, it was the driver of Chaki Mandal who came with the key.
Chaki visited occasionally,” said Asim Kumar Bose, next door neighbor, added that he did not hear shouts or unusual sounds from the house on Sunday night.
