New Delhi: The equity index surged to record the highest on Thursday with BSE Sensex benchmarks up more than 250 points led by profits in realty and its stock.
The 30-share BSE index jumped 255 points or 0.48 percent to close at a fresh peak of 53,159; While the wider NSE settled 70 points or 0.44 percent at a record 15,924.
HCL Tech, L & T, Tech Mahindra, HDFC Bank, ITC, Ultracemco and Tata Steel are the top enhancers in the sensex package up as much as 5.1 percent.
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, M & M, Titan, Asia Cat, NTPC and Sun Pharma fell up to 0.92 percent.
On the NSE platform, the nifty realty sub-index, it, bank and private banks rose by 4.2 percent.
