Chennai: The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the state government to take direct steps to issue a separate certificate to the family of all victims of Covid-19 who met the requirements that mention the cause of their deaths, if any, provided by the government.
This will be an additional death certificate issued by the authorities now, the first bench of the chairman of Judge Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy.
At present, the certificate of death issued by civil bodies does not mention the cause of death.
The court issued a direction in public interest petitions that seek direction to the government to limit and implement effective policies to ensure that the causes of death correctly and correctly mentioned in official certificates / documents for all cases of covid-related deaths in accordance with the law.
On June 11, the court emphasized the need for accurate reporting of Covid-19 death in Tamil Nadu, and observed that because the current policy was followed in declaring Covid-19 death, in some cases, the deceased was denied the country’s compensation.
“It is necessary that the appropriate study is carried out by a special team, if necessary The center and country, “The court has said this, accurate reporting or recording of death will help in the study carried out dealing with this pandemic in the future, the court added.
