Bhubaneswar: In what can be called a relaxed factor at night Diwali, not a new strain from the Delta Virus Covid variant has been detected in Odisha of 1,200 samples entered under the genome sequencing by the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS).
ILS on Wednesday said 1,200 samples were sorted in September and October, no one presented a new strain that had been found in Karnataka and Madya Pradesh.
The state health authority was told after the new Delta AY-4.2 variant was detected from MP and Karnataka.
Odisha now has a Delta AY-4 variant and old AY-12.
“Sequential samples in September and October in our laboratory have not detected new variants of the Delta virus.
In the case of Karnataka and MP, we learned that August samples had detected AY-4.2 variants, new strains of Delta.
If it was too contagious , it will create chaos in both countries.
So, consider infecting gauge so far, new strain can be called an interesting variant than a variant that is a concern in India, “said Ajay Parida, Director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS).
On August 21, the cumulative Covid infection Odisha passed 10 lakh signs later became the 10th country in the country to report more than 10 lakh infections.
Samples for genome sequencing since then collected in stages in September and October.
Odisha now has a number of cumulative infection 10, 42, 422, which means a little more than 42,000 cases have been reported in two and a half months.
“Variant AY 4.2 has not presented itself in Odisha so far it is evident from the fact that the Odisha daily kaseeload remains in a certain range with marginal oscillation.
This is a positive news for the state community.
But we cannot be complacent because we do not know when the virus changes its shape,” said Dr.
Jayant Panda, a government technical advisor in Covid-19.
When the Delta variant spread in May, June and July, Odisha added a case of Lakh Covid in 55 days (between June 27 and August 21).
